Caitlin & Ethan’s Reymerston Hall Wedding: A Wedding Film with a Retro Camcorder Twist

Sometimes the best wedding bookings come from people you’ve already filmed for.

Back in 2023, when I was just starting out as a wedding videographer, I had the pleasure of filming Caitlin’s sister Beth’s wedding. It was one of the very first weddings I filmed, so when Caitlin and Ethan got in touch a couple of years later and asked me to film their wedding at Reymerston Hall, it was pretty special.

Fast forward to their wedding day and I was back with the family again, this time capturing Caitlin and Ethan from the morning preparations right through to the party.

There were obviously a few familiar faces, including Caitlin’s dad, who was back behind the microphone giving another speech. Having already filmed him speaking at her sister’s wedding, it was a really nice little connection between the two wedding films.

I’ve filmed quite a few weddings at Reymerston Hall in Norfolk but Caitlin and Ethan’s day definitely had plenty of its own personality. I’ve also filmed at plenty of other Norfolk wedding venues, including Curds Hall Barn.

A wedding film with a bit of a difference

One of the things I wanted to do for Caitlin and Ethan’s wedding was add something a little different to their film. This is something I’ve been doing more of this year…. and that’s giving the groomsmen a camcorder to use throughout the day.

Rather than me being the only person filming, they could grab the camera and film whatever they wanted and it worked brilliantly.

There are clips in their Reymerston Hall wedding film that I simply couldn’t have captured myself because they were right in the middle of the action. The groomsmen were already part of the group, so everyone was completely comfortable around them.

That’s one of the things I really like about using this kind of footage. People behave differently when they’re holding a camera themselves and people also feel much more relaxed when the camera is being held by someone they already know.

You get the random interactions, the stupid moments, the laughs and all the little things that happen naturally throughout the day.

When you put those clips alongside the more cinematic footage I’ve filmed, it creates something really different.

You’ve got the pretty cinematic shots, the emotional moments and all the beautifully composed footage but then you’ve also got these completely unfiltered moments from the people who were actually there.

For me, that’s what makes a wedding film feel personal.

Plus… it gave me an extra angle throughout the day. It was like having a second shooter!

Reymerston Hall Wedding Videography

I’m always happy to be back at Reymerston Hall. I’ve filmed there quite a few times and it’s a brilliant setting for a wedding, with plenty of different spaces and backdrops throughout the day.

For Caitlin and Ethan, I was there from the morning preparations right through until the party, which is something I really enjoy about being a Norfolk wedding videographer.

Being there for the full day means I get to see the story develop rather than just turning up for the ceremony and reception. The morning preparations, the nerves, the anticipation and eventually everyone letting loose on the dance floor.

It means I can build a wedding film that actually feels like the whole day rather than just a collection of the big moments. That’s really important to me when I’m filming a wedding. The little moments in between the main events are often the bits you’ll want to remember just as much.

Ring Security

There were some brilliant personal touches throughout the day but one of my favourites had to be the rings. Caitlin and Ethan had one of their young nephews deliver the rings in a little “Ring Security” suitcase.

To make it even better, the string quartet were playing the James Bond theme as he made his entrance. It was such a funny moment!

The string quartet were actually playing throughout the day, which added such a lovely atmosphere to everything. It’s those little details that I love capturing because they’re the things that make one wedding completely different from another.

And then there were the cinnamon buns…

I always appreciate a good wedding cake…but Caitlin and Ethan decided to do something slightly different.

They had cinnamon buns.

Not just any cinnamon buns either. Swirl cinnamon buns. Yeah those ones based in Norwich which went somewhat viral.

I already loved them and to have them as their cake was amazing, I may have had a bite…

Golden hour at Reymerston Hall

Later in the day we managed to sneak away for a little wander during golden hour.

Everything has started to calm down a little, the light is changing and the couple finally get a few minutes together away from everyone else and on this particular evening, the light was absolutely beautiful.

We didn’t need to do anything complicated. Just a little walk, some time together and that gorgeous golden light.

These are the sort of moments where I can capture some of those more cinematic shots that sit alongside all the natural, candid footage from the rest of the day.

A special way to end the night

The evening finished with a really lovely moment between Caitlin and her dad. They had a father and daughter dance.

Having already filmed Caitlin’s sister Beth’s wedding back in 2023 and seeing her Dad and Beth also do a father daughter dance then, it felt like another little connection back to that first wedding I filmed for the family.

It’s funny how wedding videography can bring you back into people’s lives.

When I filmed her sister’s wedding, I was still very much at the beginning of my journey as a wedding videographer. A few years later, I was back filming another member of the family, but this time with a lot more experience and a few more ideas to bring to the film.

And that’s something I don’t take for granted.

Looking for a Reymerston Hall wedding videographer?

If you’re getting married at Reymerston Hall and you’re looking for a wedding videographer to capture the whole day, I’d love to hear from you.

I film weddings across Norfolk, Suffolk and beyond, capturing everything from the morning preparations and ceremony through to the speeches, dancing and all the little moments in between.

My approach is a mixture of cinematic wedding filmmaking and natural, candid moments, with the aim of creating a film that actually feels like your wedding day rather than a staged production.

And, if you fancy adding something a little different to your film, I’m always up for experimenting with ideas like the retro camcorder footage Caitlin and Ethan had.
