Barn Drift Wedding Videographer | A Norfolk Wedding Film

March 12, 2026

Barn Drift is one of the most unique wedding venues in Norfolk. Sitting quietly above the Glaven Valley with views stretching towards the North Norfolk coast, it’s a venue that feels incredibly peaceful and personal. It’s perfect for couples who want a relaxed and meaningful wedding day that they can put their own stamp on.

As a wedding videographer, Barn Drift is the kind of place that makes storytelling easy. The light, the landscape and the calm atmosphere all come together to create a day that feels natural rather than staged. Freya and Max’s wedding film (below) is a prime example!

A Real Wedding Day at Barn Drift- Freya & Max

I filmed Freya and Max’s wedding day in May 2025. I started nice and early, my home outside of Norwich is about an hour(ish) drive to Barn Drift and I was eager to get started. My packages are never by the hour so I’m always there as long as you need me on your wedding day.

When I arrived I was shocked at how peaceful and calm it seemed, was there a wedding happening? Have I got the wrong place?! The great thing about Barn Drift is that it’s a self catering venue so in Freya and Max’s case, themselves and their friends/family were staying there for a few nights over the weekend. I think that is perfect. It’s exactly how I wanted it on my own wedding day, to make a weekend out of it, but that didn’t quite go to plan, thanks COVID 🙂

I walked into the house and first of all I noticed how light it was, perfect for video, tick! I walked into the very peaceful and large room (another tick) where the bridal party were having their hair and make-up done, I greeted Freya and the photographer who I was working with that day, Darina. (Darina Stoda, check out her work, she is great!) I had worked with her previously which is always a bonus.

That sea view!

From then on I started my transformation into a ninja for the day. I quietly snuck around the venue (not in a weird, creepy way. I promise.) getting shots of hair and make-up being done, some nice b-roll of the venue and the decor, including their giant cheese wheel cake! After a while, we made our way down to the hangar with Max and the groomsmen where they decided to get their ties on and have a couple of drinks before the guests started to arrive.

This is where I started to fall in love with Barn Drift. That view of the sea and knowing the party will be happening in this hangar later on got me excited to film this wedding.

We moved upstairs while Freya got into her dress and had a first look with her Dad, it’s always so nice to see these personal moments and I really do feel honoured to be chosen to capture them. From then she had a first look with her Bridal party and that’s when I rushed out to get set up for the ceremony.

OUTSIDE CEREMONIES ARE THE BEST.

It’s light √

There’s space to move around √

There’s space to be creative with camera positioning √

There so much room for activities (I hope you get the reference) √

and mostly, I just like being outside.

As the day went on I got more and more excited about the film I could make of this day. The personal vows that Freya and Max wrote for their ceremony were just so SO GOOD. Just watch the films, you’ll see for yourself. In a selfish videographer/filmmaker way, that’s just everything I hope for.

From then on the day was chilled, everyone having a few drinks, some food and playing lawn games on the large grounds outside.

Freya, Max and the wedding party all made their big entrance into the courtyard area where they were having their wedding breakfast and speeches. They even had a gong! Which someone would gong on(?!) when the speeches were to start or any other major happenings were happening. Freya and Max cut the cake, popped some champagne then sat down for a meal with their guests.

Ahh break time.

I got set up for the speeches, which again, was outside, so I had lots of space for different camera angles. Just like the vows during the ceremony, the speeches blew me away. Again, watch the films!

Little Trip to Blakeney

After the speeches we decided to hop into Darina’s car with Freya & Max and head to Blakeney which was about a 5 minute drive away.

Blakeney meant a lot to Freya and Max personally who shared a love for sailing so it was a special place to go for a short time just to get some shots of the two of them together.

The day was going by quickly and it was time to head towards the hangar along with the guests to get ready for the bride and groom’s entrance.

Freya and Max entered, had their first dance, Max picked Freya up and gave her a little spin (spins are the best) then everyone joined the dance floor.

I stayed for around an hour longer to capture all the fun, but I was exhausted.

Time to go home. I said my goodbyes and that was me done.

On my drives home I usually think about what went well etc. and I just remember thinking what an incredible wedding that was and the kind of wedding I just love to be a part of. I was so excited to get started on this film.

Why Barn Drift Works So Well for Wedding Films

As a videographer, there are certain venues where everything just works. Barn Drift is definitely one of them.

The natural surroundings mean there’s always beautiful light somewhere, whether it’s soft morning light during preparations or the warm golden glow just before sunset.

And because everything is on-site, from preparation to ceremony to evening celebrations, the whole story of the day unfolds naturally in one place.

That makes it much easier to capture the real moments. The laughs during the drinks reception, the quiet conversations in the garden and the absolute carnage in that hangar once the dance floor gets going.

Looking for a Barn Drift Wedding Videographer?

If you’re getting married at Barn Drift and are looking for a relaxed, documentary-style wedding film, I’d love to hear about your plans, so let’s have a chat!

The best wedding films aren’t about posing or staging moments.

They’re about capturing the real ones. The laughter, the nerves before the ceremony, the hugs from family and the dance floor moments you barely remember the next day.

And venues like Barn Drift, with their calm countryside setting and beautiful spaces, are the perfect place for those moments to happen.

“We were slightly unsure whether to get a videographer or not but my gosh am I glad we decided to, and that we picked Michael. All the films he has created for us are such a special way to remember our day, and to share with others. He has captured the spirit of the day just so perfectly. Really really recommend!!”
